BAR CRUDO ON DIVISADERO.....TIME TO GET YOUR HAPPY HOUR ON

Located in the up and coming new hipster neighborhood growing along Divisidero Street which is either the Western Addition or Lower Haight (depending on who you ask) is  Bar Crudo, a place I'd heard of but never gotten around to going to, even though I used to live only a few blocks away.  A co-worker recently was having a birthday and this is one of her favorite spots so some of us from work took her there, giving me a chance to see what it was like.  We only went for the happy hour so this is a short review but from what I had, it's also a good review.

Perusing the happy hour menu one of their specialties seems to be $1 oysters and judging from the already crowded by 5:30pm place that is what most folks were getting.  But I'm not one to go with the crowd and I really don't like oysters--it's a slimy texture thing--so I went with the local rock cod tacos for $10.

Granted I think these are more of a happy hour bargain at $5 or $6 but still they were very tasty.  It was a large piece of nicely grilled fish on each soft shell taco with pickled purple onion, fresh mixed greens and a not overly spicy salsa.  I really enjoyed these and paired with my wine splurge of the Efeste Evergreen Riesling, $10 a glass, which was neither cloyingly sweet nor overly dry they were a perfect combination and great start to a long evening out.

As a group we had another stop or two to make so this was all I had here but it was enough to pique my interest and make me want to go back and delve further into their seafood heavy menu offerings.
