LET'S EAT GRILL STOP...UNTRADITIONAL FRIED CHICKEN
Another day and I find myself again at the
SOMA StreatFood Park because, well, I really like this casual truck food plaza. After a stroll around to see what's cooking I picked
Let's Eat Grill Stop (they don't have a website yet).
The menu is simple--fish tacos, hamburger or fried chicken. The fish tacos looked good but I think I'm in a fried chicken mood and for good measure I'll through in some steak cut french fries (I went to the gym today so I'm good for it.)
To be honest--not what I was expecting, but that's not a bad thing. The steak fries were big and a nice sized portion. They were fried crisply and covered in
Old Bay Seasoning, though I think they were just a little on the green side. While they were thoroughly cooked they tasted not quite ripe. Not all of them were like that, the ones that weren't were very tasty--good hearty fries with hearty flavor. The chicken turned out to be a large boneless chicken breast breaded, deep fried and served with a nice little salad. On top of the chicken was light sauce of flavorful citrus, green onions and cilantro. I liked the chicken, it was crispy and tender and the topping was unusual enough to perk up my taste buds. The salad was mixed greens with red ripe sliced tomatoes, bleu cheese and a light vinaigrette and it was a nice compliment to the tangy fried chicken. I could even see this dish as a spectacular sandwich.
All in all this truck that I'd not seen before was a pleasant surprise (though it did take some time for them to get orders out) and if you are not in a hurry on a slow Saturday or Sunday you should check them out.
