Your Weekly Digestion of Food News.....Seattle Edition! (IT'S BACK!)
Food news is back with the Seattle edition. Lots of food things happen here like SF, which I’ve found after being her for coming up on two years now. I figured why not resurrect this post and refocus on mostly local with maybe a national thing that catches my attention now and then. Though, this one starts out on a bit of a sad note. The pizzas above were from Boca Pizzeria and Bakery and some of the best in the city. Sadly, the owner passed away unexpectedly and the family has decided to close down the place along with several other spots he ran. All condolences as him and his delicious food will be missed in the Capitol Hill neighborhood.
Machiavelli’s to Close Seattle location after 35 years. This was a Seattle institution. I actually did eat there—once—was not my fave but people liked it. Seemed to me like the perfect place to take your visiting grandparents. Nuff said.
Not to fear for the location itself as the quirky semi-chain Voodoo Donuts will be taking over part of the space. I think I can get behind that!
A “Chopped” winner is bringing his Caribbean brand pop-up to a permanent Belltown location.
After covid and a car crashing through it’s front door Coastal Kitchen is calling it quits after 30 years. Another place I’d been and was meh on.
Seems the new fees on food delivery apps are causing consternation for some restaurants. Must admit, I prefer to order online and pick up myself. Most things are a short-ish walk.
I guess if you got money, why not do a food tour of Japan with a Seattle celebrity chef with Japanese roots.
Seattle cocktail week is coming up first week of March so a dry February could be a good idea?
As long as we are talking sobriety, how about a whole store of non-alcoholic beverages.
Mocktails are a thing now. Though, evidently you are not supposed to call them that.
Seems there is more (non)booze news than food, but hey, bars have food. Even bars for furries!
And let’s not forget West Seattle! Soon it will be easier to get there and maybe hit up Little Donkey! Interesting restaurant name. What is on the menu?
